21 Wordy Memes for Literate Writers Struggling With Writer's Block

Write as much as you can!

I'm a writer who doesn't procrastinate…mostly. When I have a work or school deadline, I cannot procrastinate. The words need to get onto the page one way or another, and there's a better chance the final product will be good if I do it today than on the day it's due. It doesn't matter if the words are brilliant or foolish in the first draft; they're getting written either way, whether they like it or not! 

That's all well and good for writing when the alternative is negative consequences. When it comes to my own personal projects, however, that's a different story. When you're writing a novel or a short story solely for your own satisfaction, it's a lot more difficult to put words on paper. It's easy to get caught up in how the story is not translating from your brain to the page to your liking. So many writers struggle to write anything creative at all, afraid it won't be perfect. It's no good to write passively that the nobility fled the city or that the toxic marshes were poisoning the animals beyond any ability to function. Make a protagonist see how a desperate woman in torn silks climbs onto a carriage and speeds off, or a two-headed deer wanders right into the camp and into the fire. Don't just have an ambiguous flock of all-controlling oligarchy, name one or two representative
